Nowadays there is Adobe Browser Lab that does this using profiles from all the latest browsers, including Chrome:

i no this is old post but has anyone tried to test pages for macs on safari, can u set dw8 to test in safari for macs or would i need to run a mac to find out,

I have found the portable version (standalone) of fire fox to be very handy for those who like keeping their software installs to a minimum. you can find it on portableapps.com. There are also a few more handy tools there.

Surprisingly I have never used any of the tools mentioned above, pretty much done all checks manually – I don’t know how much I trust software to do this! I will check them out anyway.

Anyone got any good tips for resolution checking? This is another manual chore I find myself doing all the time!

I use it occasionally, but my preference is with Firefox. You might want to check www.redmondhomeandgardenfurniture.ie in Firefox though.

I use both firefox, IE 6 and IE 7 for testing,

But Macromedia Dreamweaver all have this feature plugged in to validate your site for each differnet browser

For testing purposes checkout Selenium (http://www.openqa.org/selenium) allows u to have various ‘looks’ and lots of plug in tests

Tests against Internet Explorer, Mozilla and Firefox on Windows, Linux, and Macintosh with tests in Java, .NET, Perl, Python and Ruby.

Watir is also good (but IE only) http://www.openqa.org/watir/

I’ve got versions of IE 5, 5.5 and 6.0 running locally with IE 7 as a fully installed browser. (The lower versions of IE do not handle cookies tho!)

Or you could do it manually, with registry hacks to get multiple versions of browsers running at the same time..
