I use Spy Sweeper personally and it really does a good job (it's not free but you can download a trial version which scans but does not clean your machine - www.webroot.com). I’m afraid I cant help you with Defender. I use Spy Sweeper personally and it really does a good job (it’s not free but you can download a trial version which scans but does not clean your machine – www.webroot.com). I doubt whether your problem is caused by a conflict. Try uninstalling and reinstalling Defender and see how you get on.
