They’re the ones that use all those weird subdomains. Everyone knows that that’s what you gotta do to gain SERP Real Estate.

I think the problem is the keywords “car GPS”. Only Few websites are using the keywords “car GPS” or not properly optimised. Not all results at google.ie are from ebay only some of it and in the first place is non-ebay site. I think there is lot of factors that Google uses to rank pages in the Google search results (SERPs).

This includes ebay, wikipedia and a number of other high authority sites. Surely Google are more clever than this?

Google also need to start cross referencing data on domain age and domain activity. I see far to many crappy sites ranking simply because of domain age, sites that have worthless content and have not been updated in years!

Google also puts too much weight on keywords being in a domain name with silly under construction sites ranking highly simply because of the domain name!

Sorry just wanted to vent some of my frustration!! GOOGLE SORT IT OUT!

Expansys is another site in this category (mind you, Expansys is a excellent case of a well SEO’d site network).

Rado, have you tried to beat eBay in the SERPs recently? It is far from easy.

I doubt it. Most likely to do with the sheer size and authority of Ebay. Few Irish sites can compete with that. Just praise be we dont have wikipedia.ie….

Thanks for commenting, rgds

Does the fact that Ebay have Adsense running have anything to do with these results?

There’s plenty of pages to return, but Google in all their wisdom have given so much authority to Ebay that it’s hard for small Irish sites to compete. Google’s authority-rank gone mad if you ask me.

The real problem is that other car GPS websites are not properly optimised… or they simply don’t exist. However, nice catch :)
