Is anyone else seeing these really poor 5-result SERPs from Google? They always have "Results for similar searches" shown after 4 results, and ALWAYS have really crap results in the 4 shown on page 1.
e.g. https://www.google.com/search?q=soldering+iron+phuket
I honestly cant remember when I had to go to page 2 results on Google so much…

Seems like G cannot find anything besides the four results, that is "Results for similar searches" is being served (like you already said). Personally I hit the results for similar searches from time to time and aren't the best. Normally I re-phrase the query but in this case I am surprised as well because it isn't a "weird search query".

Yeah, but I get it for more and more terms. Why show 4 results when they've got more? Show 4 when they think they have a good match perhaps.

I've got that quite a few times on quite broad terms (well certainly not as niche as yours) – I thought it may be part of a split test. They haven't officially announced anything around these type of results have they ?
