Golden Spiders Best Spammer Award Goes To…

Last year I was pretty vocal on the Golden Spiders Awards. This year I was pretty uninterested.

But I think this story of the Golden Spiders organisers ‘guilty’ of spamming just about sums it up for this particular ‘awards’ ceremony.

How can spammers be relied upon to select Ireland’s top websites? Seriously?

  1. Actually I still got spammed after asking to be unsubscribed myself.

The trouble is that you need a strong competitor to attract the attention away from the golden spiders and there is none at the moment.

The other alternative is to form a guild of website designers. Finding an independent voice to oversee it would be quite difficult but web design has more cowboys than the building trade and car trade combined!

  2. Hi Brian

I don’t think there’s any easy solution, although a professional organising entity who don’t spam and actually have a clue about the web would be a great improvement.

  3. And more than a week later, the Golden Spiders still haven’t paid any money to the Daisyhouse charity. I will be following it up. ;-)

  4. I think they must be just utterly incompetent. Not paying before Christmas is just sad. Not to mention somewhat of a two finger salute to the Data Commissioners…

Thanks for dropping by Maryrose, and do keep us informed.
